Israel Engages in Secret Talks with Russia on Iran, Syria Amid Ceasefire
An Israeli broadcaster, revealed that high-ranking Israeli officials have been in ongoing contact with Moscow, aiming to secure a diplomatic resolution on both issues. These negotiations reportedly began shortly after Russia proposed mediation between Israel and Iran.
The report did not provide specific details on the substance of these talks.
In parallel, Israel is reportedly pushing for a broader deal with the US over Iran. The broadcaster states that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans to address this matter during his upcoming meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington next week.
Israeli officials are said to be working towards a framework on Iran similar to the agreement already achieved with Lebanon.
Israel’s airstrike campaign on Iran, initiated on June 13, ceased following President Trump's announcement of a ceasefire on June 24. Since then, discussions have been underway within Israel to potentially expand "normalization agreements," also known as the Abraham Accords, with the possibility of including Syria in these ongoing efforts.
